Everyone deserves to live in a beautiful, safe,
vibrant community. Citizens have a very important part in building community spirit so that the desire to have a good quality of life is fulfilled. A neighborhood association is a group of resident volunteers who identify the positive assets in a community: the places, the people, their talents – and build on those features and strengths. By coming together, we can be a part of making our neighborhood a better place to live. |
The Resident Leader Program helps anyone who would like to start an association on their street or in their neighborhood. Mentors provide information about how to contact folks to start your core group, how to lead a discussion and listen to concerns about issues in the neighborhood, how to identify the talents of each person who comes to the meeting and wants to help. There is also practical information that is shared about how to get a Tax ID for the purpose of opening a bank account, how to create operating principles, how to have fun and productive meetings, and how to look for financial support and volunteers. Once a group meets certain eligibility milestones, there is limited funding available from the City of Brockton to help with the costs of hosting an event or managing a special project. There is no cost to any participants for this training. Visit the Program information page to learn more. SIGN UP HERE FOR OUR NEXT COURSE.
There are several other ways to get involved, too:
